Bragging Rights! (Or, Fortezza Shuttle revisited)

Some of you old timers from the other site may remember my build of the Fortezza shuttle and matching stack.

I had done it around late November and sent it off to my friends at Johnson Space Center (they are both mission trainers and work with the astronauts to prep them for the shuttle missions.).

My only request was if they could take a picture of the model in an official NASA setting and send it to me.

Well, they went me one better!

With a picture being worth a 1000 words, check these puppies out: (click on the image to see it full size)

Here is my model in front of the Shuttle Motion Base Simulator, which is a full scale mock up of the cockpit on hydraulic pistons. Think a huge flight simulator and you've got it.

The piece de resistance-

My model with, from left to right:

Leland Melvin - Mission Specialist # 1

Steve Frick - Commander

Rex Walheim - Mission Specialist #2

Alan Poindexter - Pilot

Here's some of the comments my friend at JSC wrote:

"..they were all amazed at your model and even though they were in those hot orange suits without their cooling hoses hooked up, they kept asking about it and wanted to see the Payload Bay Door’s open and close. In short, they loved it."

How's that for braggin' rights?

You win! You are Bragger Numero Uno - and have the proof to back it up! Well deserved honor I might add.

Thanks guys!

Very cool payoff for ALOT of hard work. I've got more shots too, but the originals are HUGE so I've got to convert them.

My friends have told me to pick my favorite one and they'll print it at 8x10 and then have the crew autograph it! WOOOOOOHOOOO!

Congratulation on such a great model, and showing off how well paper works for this!
