The Journey Begins...1/4 Mercury capsule
I've finally musterd up the motivation to tackle this really cool build, by Scott from Spacereplicas.com. I'm kinda working out of sequence, I decieded to start with the recovery section first.

Nice Build
Looking good so far. Can you tell us the model you are making. I mean the name of it and the author please. Always nice to know who's model your building.
Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing more of this. Cheers Jim |

What he asked? Looks great whatever it is. I almost thought it was the nose part of a Mercury capsule. |

Title says 1/4 Mercury Capsule.
so Closet....just how big will the capsule be? I'm guessing a bit larger than the old Action Man/GI Joe capsule? The doll was of course 12", which makes it more like 1/6 scale. I'm just thinking it would be cool to have an Astronaut figure to go with. Based on the files that are currently available, this looks like a pretty in depth project! Planning on any electrics? |

It's my understanding it should be about 24 inches high and about 18 inches in diameter, the scale is 1/4 but I'm having to print on fit to page otherwise it cuts off some of the pg. but fit to page srinks it just a bit. If I had to guess the scale will end up like 1/4.5. As far as electronics....that bridge in a long way down the road, the designer is currently working on the pilot compartment, I have no idea when he'll post the files.

remember fit to page may not give you the exact same scale reduction on every page!
obviously different printers have different options, but you would be better to settle on a scale amount (say 98%) and print every page using that scale. before you go too far, I would go back and try to verify the scale reduction amount on these first pages. Hopefully figure out what the actual reduction was and record it for future pages. |

Looking good so far! This is another one of those models I need to finish -- when it first came out, I did the antenna fairing, before the rest of the model parts were put up.

This is one of the more challenging tasks, eh? Big size, lots of detailing to do, Great to see some people are taking that challenge now. Mercsim (Scott) will be glad to see there's some action going on. Good thing! I'll follow this closely.
