Apollo-Soyuz
Hi,
My son needs to build a model of the Apollo-Soyuz test project. Can you please tell me how you built your model? And how large are the two crafts (approximately)? Thanks in advance! I would appreciate any advice you can offer, Joy Favret |

At Jon Leslie's Lower Hudson paper model site you can find Apollo spacecraft. (Index of /ton_sm0810) It's in 1/48 and quite easy to do.
The docking and transfer adapter between the two spaceships can be made like a simple tube between the two with three oblong boxes alongside it. For the whole stack in 1/48 like the Apollo, enlarge the Soyuz parts to 208%. For the whole stack in 1/100, like the Soyuz, reduce the Apollo parts to 48%. Print at least at 160 gram per m2 thick paper/card. Don't make it too thick, otherwise it will be hard to cut and will have a bad fit. |

Here, in the downloads section, you will find Surfduke's complete ASTP package. Apollo CSM, Soyuz and the docking module for free.

I guess Yogi's models are what comes in handy at this point because they are reasonable easy to make and give a very nice end result. His Soyuz model is also good, albeit in a different scale. Maybe it's also handy to add a link to a scale conversion chart here for obvious reasons: Scale Conversion Chart Joy, will you let us see the result of your son's work? I for one am curious. |
