Red River question follow-up
I asked the question earlier about a replacement source and have been looking as well. I find numerous papers labeled: metallic silver, but none as bright in sheen as the Red River. What I see on the web for other sources looks the car color metallic silver, which looks almost gray - like all those Mercedes and BMWs imported into the US.
Perhaps there is source for a polished aluminum finish?? |

Digital Ground option to Red River

Turns out the Winchester drive part of my brain remembers more than the other :-) There are several stores in my area that apparently carry the Golden Paints product. I will have to go see and continue to see if any printers in my area have ink jet printers for hire. |

I'm wondering if a re-watching of "Apollo 13" wouldn't be a bad idea for those contemplating this model. I watched it on HBO yesterday and thought modelers could catch a lot of good interior detail. (But ignore the fact the movie's special-effects people screwed up the Saturn V's markings....)

I have been working on the Main Hatch today. What you see here is the machined door structure, and outer panel; none of the latches, hinges, mechanisms are added yet. This door is going to get MUCH busier in the next few hours.
Picture 1 - Shows how the door structure is assembled Picture 2 - Inside of the door structure Picture 3 - Outer door panel (there is a thin clear piece of plastic in there) Picture 4 - A view inside the CM (the door frame is not yet in place) Picture 5 - A little tight, but it fits the opening in the outer shield in case someone wants to show the door in the closed position Ken

Beautiful hatch work. This is so beyond a work of art.
