Great idea! It looks good, adding more detail to the panel. The scale kind of asks for it. I guess by actually separating the three parts of the panel, cutting away the black zig-zag lines and gluing it back together, backing it with black paper, you also get the small zig-zagged depth between them as seen between the original panel plates on the last photo.

Another great idea, I'll do just that, it is easy, as Ken designed the panel in three layers to give it depth

I am sure to buy this model when it comes out. And this one I really will make in the designated scale, because of all the extra detail one can add in this scale.
After seeing what Phil Smith did with his Atomic City Mercury capsule some years ago, I have been in awe of this scale, wanting to do a detailed spaceship like that - but in paper. This model is in that sense a dream come true. |

This is the way I'm doing the finger-guards
First I made alle the holes with a piercer The method Ken suggested works well, only I use 0,2 mm thick metal-wire, normally used for hot wire-cutters, and it works fine, you can even adjust every single guard after placing, and it stays in that position Last edited by billy.leliveld; 05-20-2013 at 12:45 AM. |

Billy,
It is 11:30 pm, and I just got home from a 9 hour round trip. I couldn't wait to get home and check in; knowing that you would be posting something. I wasn't disappointed! Those wire guards look great! The time you are spending on the main panel, along with the lighting, will make this a stunning display. I also like the idea of splitting the panel; I have to admit, I didn't think of that, but a great idea! Please continue! Ken

Tonight, I added the Ingress/Egress Handle (the one above the Main Crew Hatch opening).
Billy, I sent you an update for Section 5 - Main Panel, that includes the Handle. Ken
