Sadly, the hatch is shut, but you are able to get a very good, very close walkaround of the outside of the vehicle.

Don't be sorry! There is no such thing as having too much resource material. So far, the most challenging aspect of producing a reasonable CM, has been collecting enough quality data; especially interior data. Once the material is obtained, designing is a piece of cake. So please keep sending good pictures (especially photographs, and illustrations). It makes my job easier; not more difficult.

Also, ripping out and restarting is a normal (albeit frustrating) process. But, I think when you see the next set of changes I have in mind, you will agree that it was worth the effort. I think Mechanic was the first to recognize that I started off using the Virtual Apollo book as the primary source of info, which turned out to be a mistake. The Virtual Apollo book is EXCELLENT from an explanatory perspective. It's written descriptions are thorough and accurate. But the computer graphics could best be described as "illustrative", and was not created for dimensional accuracy.

The demolition phase is complete and successful.

Starting to rebuild with corrected graphics and shapes.

Wow, really starting over! Were any of the interior components salvageable?

I worked on the CM for most of the weekend. Nothing to show as of yet. I have been focusing on the aft bulkhead components - electrical runners, and miscl stowage. And how to still allow for opening up for display.

A few challenges remain.... should the couches stay with the crew compartment when disassembled, or stay with the aft compartment? There are 4 attachments to the forward bulkhead, and 2 to the edge of the aft compartment. I prefer to leave them with the aft compartment so they don't block the view to the Control Panel. BUT, that means the couches will only be mounted by 2 points.... 2 legged stool....

Ooer! That is not an easy decision to make, Ken! If only you could make the forward 4 mounting points 'release' somehow. I'm thinking pins through the mounting arms, at the forward bulkhead end ...... but not easy to facilitate in a paper model where parts may get a bit fragile.

Why not leave both options to the builder? Leaving it attached to the forward section, there is a storage cabinet above and behind the couches that might be able connected to the fwd pressure hull (as you did with the equipment bays) allowing for all six connection points; and for mounting to the aft section, perhaps two (or four) hidden stubs under the couches for support (with the storage cabinet left with the aft hull)?

I think I may have found a way to mount the couches. I'll have to wait and see when I get to that point.

I made some progress today. I redesigned just about everything on the inside, and finally got a chance to start building.

Here is the rear wall, and the right-forward equipment bay. This one looks much more like the real thing, and is proportionately correct. The little square flecks are velcro patches.

So did you engineer tiny velcro to scale as well? Hehehe. Looks great... again Ken!!!
