My ISS Build Efforts
Hello everyone. I'm currently undertaking a build of AXM's excellent ISS kit, with slight tweaking hear and there to increase realism and detail. I'm blogging about my build efforts and other papercraft projects here and thought that I'd share it with the group.

Hello - yes, it's been a while, but I'm still working on it. I just finished the Quest Airlock, MISSE-1 though MISSE-5, and the Early Ammonia Servicer. I plan to publish a build article on these components to my blog later this weekend. I am currently working on the Pirs docking component and hope to have it completed in a couple of weeks. Thanks for your interest in my work!

Hello all,
I’ve begun my long build of a 1:100 scale ISS. I’m adding some of the amazing design choices of the many skilled modelers who have come before me such as magnets to hang and attach some modules and grab rails. Here’s a pic of zarya in progress. I’m curious, there are a lot of timelines and chronologies for this evolving station, what is your opinion of the “most helpful” and “most up to date” as far as detailing what components are where or when external changes occurred?

Quick question about the early comm antennas that were mounted to the port and starboard docking ports of Unity. In AMX's model it shows this under the instructions as "other parts" but I can't find it on my parts sheets for the life of me. Was it offered in a shuttle kit? and later omitted? Is it available elsewhere?

Hi sreinmann,
Thanks for your interest in the ISS model. Regarding the Early Comm Antennas in Unity, I did not include them in the final ISS model because these antennas were added in the very early stages of assembly and then removed. Looking back, I now realize that I should’ve added them the way I did with the EAS. These antennas are part of the STS-88 payload bay kit but only in 1:144 scale. I can scale them for you and send them to your email. In the next few days I will update the ISS Combokit #2 which will include these antennas plus some other stuff. Send me a PM at [email protected] |

Thanks Alfonso, I didn’t want to go to PM in case someone else had the same issue. It’ll be helpful to have these updates I think. Although I respect - at my early stage of building - that there’s many hundreds of like configuration changes ahead.
Unity is still WIP as I go back and forth on the grabhandle materials.

No problem sreinmann.
I am attaching the page that contains not only these Early Comm. Antennas, but the Early Ammonia Servicer and MISSEs as well. All these parts are from Early ISS assembly phase. Whomever might be building the ISS model in early stage configuration, these 1:100 scale parts can be handy. |
