Quick question, I got the full compiled ISS model, been challenging, but absolutely love making it, but I noticed I am not finding Harmony in it. I see references to it, and have found Node 1 and 3, but 2 seems nowhere to be found. Any help pointing me to a PDF with it or what page number would be amazing!
Also kinda looks like Node 3 and node 2 are basically the same but with slightly different logos on them, at least from a novice and low knowledge point. |

Hi KaraYeen,
several parts of the ISS are freely downloadable. I don't know whether they were later added to the compilation, but you can find those parts on AXM's website. Harmony was part of STS-120. You can find them in the Space Shuttle Models section. Cheers |

Hi,
All the elements are contained in all three kits. Harmony is included on kit #2. Kits 2 and 3 are free. |

Thank you so much! I did not realize that there was a kit two and three. I will definitely do more looking on that when I get home from vacation and I will take a few pictures to and show off some progress of the making possibly.

Iss rebuild
I don't see a lot of activity on this thread since I last posted. I have retired and left my ISS model in an office at the Pentagon. I started to build a new model based on the lessons learned from the first. This one is going together much nicer.
The main improvement is the method of connecting the modules. For Unity, Destiny, and Harmony, I will use a 1/2" PVC pipe as my backbone. I used my Silhouette vinyl cutter to make a 4" ring with a 1/2" hole to align the modules on the PVC. Magnets are embedded in the ends of the PVC pipe. Unity and Harmony will have magnets mounted on the ends that will hold them in place at the end of the pipe. The PMA-2 unit will have a magnet that holds it to the end of Harmony. This will be repeated with PMA-1 for the end of Unity. I will use the same mounting system for connecting the Zvezda Service Module with Zarya. All other modules will be held in place with neodymium magnets. This worked well on my first build. |

Metal foil iss modules
Always wanted the European and American modules to have a metallic shine. I have experimented with foil labels and not sure if this is the way to go. I am not happy with the results. I might go back to just printing the modules on plain cardstock.

Harmony Module
Reworking the Harmony module. For this version I replicated the thermal blankets with coffee filters. This gives a slight off-white color and fabric texture. The Harmony module also has a few panels that are recessed. I cut those panels out and added card stock to the inside. The hatches also have recessed panels. They were replicated. All the details are minimal but I am hoping they will add up and add visual interest.

Hi hawk3y3,
What is the scale of your model? I started assembling this model and I'm thinking about what improvements I can add. |

I enlarged the model by 228%. By my calculation it is a 1/42 scale model.

I saw this not so long ago, might work for the silver modules:
Spotted a new offering at Michael's Craft stores. (the sticker saying "NEW" was a clue.) It is a silver foil paper at regular prices. Not a mirror finish, but shiny. It is the Recollections brand sold at Michael's, I bought a package of Shiny Silver Foil. there are other less shiny colors as well.
