1/96 SeaLaunch

Gang,

Here's my latest WIP: a 1/96 SeaLaunch Zenit rocket designed by Mark Lardas.

The kit goes together easily so far. The interstage truss was a bit of a pain, but my workaround was to just cut it from a single sheet of photo paper rather than backing it with the gray kit part. I then painted both the exterior and interior with a mix of acrylic paints. The small rocket nozzles on the second stage are plastic pieces scrounged from the spares box; I still can't produce cones that small!

Stay tooned. More to come!

Spectacular colours! And nice and glossy, too. Those Russian trussworks are always a pain in the neck. But in real life it has its advantages. Luckily this is just a small one - and you used the best technique. Nice work, Les. Very nice work.
Where did you get this one?

Looks great. And, yes, you can make nozzles that small. Just use thinner paper and use the sharpened end of a pencil or a pen as a former.

SeaLaunch

Thanks for sharing this build. I had downloaded this model some time ago, but have been hesitant to start because I could not find instructions. I will follow your build progress. You have done a great job, very precise.
Thank you!

Kevin

Yeah, lack of instructions is a glaring fault in what is otherwise a most excellent model. Fortunately it's not too complicated, especially if you go to the SeaLaunch site (Sea Launch | Home Page) and download a bunch o' pix mission by mission.

Where is the download site for that? I had downloaded one of these, but I went back to look at the kit when I saw this thread, and my file was corrupted. Not sure what happened.

It's the Files section of the Space Paper Models Yahoo group. Look under Mark's Mods. There's a 1/72 version as well.

There it is! Explains why I couldn't find it, it's behind the Yahoo groups firewall. Thanks much!
