Merzo,
I haven't found any good diagrams of the skycrane. Best images are at: Kennedy Media Gallery select Mars Science Laboratory from the Expendable Launch Vehicles category in the search area. Images are about 13 pages in and further - should be able to scale the skycrane relative to the other MSL components. The best images at the MSL website are in the Animation Stills on the image collections page at: Mars Science Laboratory: Image Collections . I haven't seen any good plan drawings or documentation yet. Yogi |

Thanks Yogi Looking for info .. I read somewhere that the Sky Crane with the Viking lander? Prepare a "probe Luna" landing gear. The three-point field definition is very complicated, and that all the big button of a form must be prepared .. Again the solution of the template Concerned about the size of ground clearance but I hope I'll get it continued Merzo |

Merzo,
Like all of your models which you present here, your Luna 17 is a great representation of the real thing! With so few reference material available on these probes, you have a really hard job, but it looks spectacular! Best regards, Thorsten |

Thorsten couldn't have expressed it better. It is amazing. Inventive use of materials and, as always the eagle-eyed measuring using templates and shapes. Wonderful job, Merzo!

Merzo,
"Looking for info .. I read somewhere that the Sky Crane with the Viking lander?" I haven't seen anything on that. From the photos I've seen, the MSL skycrane is all struts, tanks, and a few other bits. Seems to be a hexagonal truss box with four symmetrical outriggers from the side faces for the thrusters (and tanks in each), an aft shorter outrigger with tankage, and a forward outrigger with equipment (radar/guidance?). I assume the tether and reel to lower the lander goes in the middle (apparently not installed in this picture). In this pic the skycrane is sitting on a three-legged fixture and the forward outrigger does not seem to be installed. Amazing work on Lunokhod. We need a designer (who's faster than me) to work on this one. Yogi |
