This is a funny coincidence that both of us have a connection to this shuttle mission.

BTW- your build looks a bagillion times better than mine did :D
Wow how did you get the opportunity to meet Clay Anderson and James Reilly?

Hi there,
I plan on building this model too, I just have some questions.

1. Are the boosters glued to the tank?
2. Is the orbiter glued to the tank?
3. Can the payload bay doors be made to open & closed?
4. Is the landing gear retractable?
5. Do you use 60lb. card stock on this one?
6. How does the full stack stay balanced on the MLP

Thanks:D

Matthew- I got the opportunity via my second job. I work in the education department at the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Nebraska. I met Dr. Reilly when he was there for a teacher meeting about science and engineering. I got to work with him all day. It was great. Clay I met the same way. But, since I'm a teacher as job #1, I got to spend even more time with him discussing education and it's role in future space development. The man is a genious.

As for your building questions, I can answer a few. yes, the boosters are attached to the fuel tank via some neat little fairing things. The fuel tank then attaches to the belly of the shuttle. The door on the orbiter can be made to open, as there are many different payload options available from Sir Alfonso. As for the gear, I'm not sure. I think it's an all or nothing thing with those. I used 67 lb stock on mine with great results.
