Hi Don, I also made STS-1, albeit a bit smaller. I made it into a diorama of the rollout, the MLP riding Columbia up the slope of LC-39A. Here you can see a good detailed shot of the air conditioning cars and APU units on the blast deck. I used this picture to make small templates of the cars. Don't forget to add the bunch of cables on the other side of the deck, close to the Shuttle blast hole for extra realism (-;
Looking forward to see your take on the stack!

i have taken all this into account but the main worry of mine is weight distribution seeing as though my stack maybe upwards of ten to fifteen pounds. i have started on all the railings on all four sides of the mlp as well as around the exhaust holes. photos coming soon.

15 pounds? Don, It really isn't going to be that heavy. Unless you plan to fill the ET with concrete. (-;
Looking forward to see some pictures!

i am planing on using solid pieces of wood to reinforce the et and srb's as for my orbiters structure, im going to be designing the parts on a CAD drafting program then use my fathers CNC router to cut them out, and i will add 15 lbs maybe an exaggeration but i have engineered my crawler/ mlp set up to take and enormous amount of weight.
