Amazing and precise build, PK! Thank you for sharing!
Luke... that description was very interesting. Now you made me like going to the book store and find out more (and add another book to my current 7 books I'm reading!). Thanks! |

I have to admit, I too was surprised of the short time it took to get this one on the shelf. But is is a small rocket, especially compared to the D4H I did before this one.

It is a bit tricky, for Leo's PDF's are protected. I had to scan my prints to mod the colours. I think that's not really cheating. (-; Luckily the quality still was good.
I also had to decide to use metallic paper for the fairing because when printed on regular white paper, the green colours would differ too much. I also gave the lower part of the first stage a bit of a burned effect, like they look when launched. |

Very nice... I like how you used the vent line or turbopump exhaust (don't know which it is, but my bet is vent line) to hide the stand... Nice touch!
To yall who thanked me for the description, you're welcome... This launch mode has a nice side benefit that model rocketeers have been exploiting for decades-- it adds to the performance of the rocket, since the rocket doesn't have to burn fuel accelerating from a standing start... it's already up and moving at a pretty good clip by the time the main engines fire up. This is basically the same way that sub launched ICBM's work... Later! OL JR

Aha, it's a vent line, you say. Venting what, exactly? Hypergolic fumes?
When I put it next to the rest of my 1/96 models I notices the Dnepr not even differs a lot in height and width with the 'standard' Titan II core. That rocket was IIRC originally also launched from a silo. So, they're kind of cousins. And do you know what that weird little brown cloud is, that comes out of the upper part of the Dnepr when the engines roar to life? |
