Giving back to the community, a little

this might not be the best section for this thread .. if so, mods, please, move it. i wanted to express my gratitude to the designers who make this hobby possible.

i found this book titled 'The Space Transportation Systems Reference' by Christopher Coggon in the local thrift shop. published 1984. it's got photos, plans and descriptions. see some of the images from the book below.

i want to send it to a designer who will put it to a good use. but i dont know how to choose the person or if the book is of any interest to them. so, help me out with that.

i'll ship it free in the continental US. if the chosen person lives anywhere else i'd need to get reimbursed for shipping cost via paypal.

Wow, this book would be really useful for designers. If it's possible, scan it and make a pdf, this way more people could use it

Nanainis :- I assume scanning the book would violate copyright.

hihik, I can think of 2 people straight away, Alfonso and Kenlwest. Both have put a lot of time into this hobby and would make good use of the book.

My suggestion is : Thorsten Brand.
He started a high-detailed 1/48scale version of the shuttle.
A free download.
Maybe it will revive things!

I guess the author of this book wasn't writing it to make money, he did i because he wanted to share information he knew/found and he wouldn't be mad if it's used for a good cause (sorry for bad english)

Speaking as a published author who has written more than one book to "share information" I'd found, I'd be plenty mad if someone photocopied one of my books without my permission and passed it around "for a good cause."

And my publisher did do it for the money, some of which he paid me and some of which made the book possible.

The Space Transportation Systems Reference is still available on Amazon.com -- used copies for less than $20. Offering a found copy to one of our community's designers is a great idea and much appreciated by the rest of us. But a copyright is a copyright.
