Marscenter Shuttle Models

Impressive work, N96HBK,

in that small 1/144 scale! Very nice indeed. Yes, perhaps thinner paper would be easier to shape and form in such a small model. It's the first scaled-down Marscenter shuttle model I have seen. And - very nice landing gear and wheel wells! Try cutting out the blue windows and insert thin clear celluloid foil on the backside in the next model, for even better realism!

I am building an upscaled (and endlessly lengthy-running) 1:72 model of the Marscenter Atlantis shuttle with interior and landing gear from the Betexa model.

A year or so back, by the way, a member here produced a new, very realistic-looking 3-D tile pattern and new, lighter grey underside for the Marscenter shuttle/orbiter models. I'll see if I can find a link. I tried printing the nose out and folded it, and it's an improvement to the original 'skin' by Dr. Raimondo Fortezza, which is also very nice and detailed in it's own right.

All the best from Stockholm,
Bengt

Thanks for the advice. I printed two models on one sheet of A4, so I will try cutting out the windows and make the cockpit on the other copy. (As I don't have the Betexa kit yet I have to design all those parts.) I also tried making the AXM shuttle in a scaled down 1/250 scale, and two layers of A4 sheets is thick enough.

Hello everyone.

I tried ordering the Betexa model from Howpaper, a korean paper model store. But the guys say it's out of stock and is too old to sell, and I heard they sold their last one in 2006. I just want to ask if it's currently available at the betexa site.

Raketoplán Atlantis from Betexa Card Models

Hi, N96HBK,

Here it is - you can order it directly from Betexa, in the Czech Republic, for example using your credit card, which is what I did some years ago.
They were quite fast to deliver it inside Europe, add perhaps a week of shipping to Korea:
Raketoplán Atlantis - limitovaná edice DIGITISK | BETEXA.cz

From this page at Betexa, you can also download an assembly guide in English (or German) on the 1/72 scale Betexa Atlantis Space Shuttle!

Good luck!
It is a wonderful model, complete with flight deck interior, landing gear & wheel wells.

Magellan Venus Spacecraft Bonus!

Hi again, N96HBK,

I should perhaps add that this STS-30 space shuttle mission model (from the 1985 flight) also includes a complete cargo bay interior (in 1/72 scale)
along with the complete Magellan Venus space probe.

So, it is a very complete model!

All the best,
Bengt in Stockholm

I shouldn't think so, N96HBK,

I just ordered online and paid with my credit card.

All the best,

Betexa E-mail Address

Thank you for that e-mail address, Tigris,

That will probably speed things up for those who like to order a Betexa 'Raketoplán Atlantis' complete 1/72 scale space shuttle model kit.

All the best,
Bengt
