Space Shuttle Flight Deck

Hi all,

I was working on a paper model of the Space shuttle Flight Deck based upon 3D models I've done.

My first attempt was to create the forward flight deck. However the hard drive in PC I was working on failed wiping out my data and source files.

I've started the project again and I've managed to salvage a few key files and get most of the flight deck rebuilt in another 3D application. Currently it's on the back burner as I have other commitments, but I plan to have ago at creating the flight deck paper model this year.

Currently the 3D flight deck looks like the attached images. I've also added the PDF of the early version of the Flight deck, which I salvaged from my old website. Wish I could remember the password for that site.

Looks pretty good so far. We have the Atlantis Flight Deck Training module at the museum here. It's just the lo-fi one, but has all of the switches, buttons etc.

Dear Desktopsimmer:
Cool Idea, what springs to mind is doing a diarama with the Enterprise Comand deck in the same scale. Kind of a mini museum walk through.
Please keep going,
MILES

Yoann, As you can see, Desktopsimmer wrote in his post he took that PDF from his old website. It's his older, salvaged work. Someone might have put his files up for download on that belgian site. Maybe he did it himself.
His website is really worth a look, by the way. Desktopsimmer's 3D Models

Welcome to the club, Desktopsimmer!

Yep that's my work. I'd sent it to Tonie when I discovered shuttlesim.be.

I've been trying to access the old site to re-point it to my blog, but the support was pants to get a password sent to me. I know what it is, just can't remember how a misspelt the password

Thorst's 1/48 scale shuttle looks great. I'm planning on just doing the flight deck and the surrounding external model at a larger scale, maybe at 1/32. The middeck I might do later as a separate model.

I've recently purchased Pepakura Designer and I'm very impressed with how easy it is. I've created a simple VAB paper model in a relative short time. Nothing detailed, just a test to see how easy it is to create a model using Pepakura.

This week, I'll look at recreating the same forward flight deck section using Pepakura, and using the the updated model. The version above was created in Rhino 3D (both 3D and 2D) and I don't have access to that software anymore. The new version was created in Wings3D.
