Shuttle MLP of EDU-Craft in 1:144

Now I have also build this pad, but I have taken only all the parts in paper from the sheets of the kit, no other material like spacerunner (who has made a very impressive, outstanding and amazing model!!!), except any wooden spikes for reinforce and stability the pipes and the pedestals.
It's my opinion as a paper-modeler to make from paper what possible....
Sure there are less details and it's not so accurate, but it is paper!
There is no problem, it's really good to build, something any little mistakes and a little tricky, but doable.
Thank you David Mayer, you have made a really very good job of designing!
The Atlantis is from AXM.
The next step will be the Pad 39A and then the crawler....I hope...

Hello Michael,

thanks for your nice words.

Your MLP looks flawless and is vaguely familiar ...

You might think that you've built it in a few days, out of nowhere, it is suddenly standing there. For some, it would certainly help to see the individual steps and progress, in order to test such a model once myself, because many think that they would never do it himself.

True to your convictions as a paper modeler you have built (almost) everything from paper, however, is no objection, it's okay so.

You've built it Out of Box, OOB, the plastic modeler would say, so better said Out of Paper Kit, maybe OOPK, which is the usual way.

I follow a somewhat different approach and use different kinds of materials for my launch pad to scratch-build additional tiny details that are not available or only hinted in the kit. But this is ultimately a matter of taste and everyone can decide for themselves and has their own experiences.

BTW, it's a great idea that you now also want to build Davids Launch Tower and the Crawler. I'm already excited about it and I hope you will show us pictures of the progress too.

Thanks for your posting!
I think you make a wonderful model with so many details that it will be a real perfect image of the original.
But, even if I want, I have not the possibilities for handle plastic and metal material.
So I build since a long time papermodels and found out, that's the best way for me....
I needed three weeks for the model with ca. 4-5 hours/day.
I know, that a extensively building report helps some other to build this...but it needs much time - fotos, writing and also translate in english (my english is not sooo god) - and - sorry for that - I have not the perseverance to make this...
Perhaps I make a report of the tower in our german forum and give you here the link for this!

@all:

Thank you for your nice postings!

So, I have decided, to try a report also here in english. Hope it will be have success....

The Kit of the tower has 49 sheets in A3 and many many parts.
It starts with the fixed service structure (FSS), in original made from the old Saturn LUT....
At first the 12 Decks and the vertical girders. there are three section, so that to top smaller girders....
It's not difficult, but slow-moving...
many to cut, fold and glue the equal parts.
At the end it is important to have the same direction of all decks and the perpendicular alignment.
That's it for today, at weekend more....

Oh great! Michael, don't worry about your English. It really is god enough the way it is. We love to see your builds here so I am glad you decided to post the build here too.
And Manfred, I follow your build in silent awe and amazement. It looks meticulously and wonderful. I don't care you use other materials to detail. In the end, the base of the kit is and always will be paper and thus in my eyes it is a paper model. Look at Zoltan's models, he also is not a purist but his models too, definitely belong here.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks Michael and PK for your nice and encouraging words.

Great Michael, that you take the time and report on the progress of your Launch tower. You're right, that everything costs time, I'm no different. But I am glad to see your report, because here we all can always learn something new, interesting ideas, tricks and experiences. And so all of us have a benefit together, and that's important.
