Will you be submitting this back to Aaron for resale?

Thanks,

It's already available directly from Aaron.

Such is life, not just high school. The phrase "large scale model" means a large model that has all its parts in the same proportions as the original item. But "large-scale model" means a model whose scale is large -- so the model itself would be small. That tiny little hyphen gives us the opposite meaning.

A quick update from the workbench. One wing down, one to go.

Lemme point out a couple things:

-- Modeler Papermate over in the Aviation builds glued a rim for support where the engine nacelle fairing meets the fuselage on Aaron's similar Xian HY-6 (Tu-16 variant), and I strongly recommend the same, at least at the top of the fairing. There just isn't a lot of gluing area otherwise. I'd give the fit a B+, especially where the fairing meets the nacelle. (The camera makes it look worse than it is for some reason.)

-- The instructions call for the engine fan to be place near the front of the nacelle, but at least on the Tu-16, it was much further back, behind the main wing spar with a duct leading from the inlet. I made a duct from rolled paper, blanked off at the wing support.

More to come. Stay tooned!

It still looks great Les. Thanks for re-enforcing papermate's recommendation.

::grumble grumble:: Project is going on hiatus for awhile due to off-scale-high level of frustration. I totally botched the landing gear pods despite help from Papermate and Aaron, and now I gotta rebuild both wings.

It'll be back after I do a couple other projects. Look for Mariner 9 flying over an actual piece of mars soon!

I might change the engine facings. Most of the pictures of Tu-104's I found had a red plug just inside the intake (to keep small rodents and other things (children) out of the engines. I just put it where I figured it needed the support most.
