Highly Detailed Saturn V...Czech (?)

Good Evening to All,

Found this interesting site a while back:

Saturn V paper model (1:96)

They are slowly designing a highly detailed 1/96 Saturn V from the top down. Last I had heard, they were not going to continue the project as it was extremely difficult, but they have since added the SM.

Cheers from Texas

The designer is/was a member here, "mrm", it looks like he hasn't been active for some time now though.

I've downloaded what he's made available. It looks incredible; his attention to detail is almost unreal. He also has some very interesting techniques for making the tubular structures for the LES tower. . .

Whilst building my 1/48 LEM, I used this technique for the legs, only I doubled up the coiling, inner LH thread, outer RH thread. I found the best solution to the final exterior cosmetic was to finish off with a cigarette paper. I can also state that tubes produced like this can be very strong indeed.

The designer's attention to detail is impressive, especially at 1/96 scale. I think I'll have to bash a CM to the SM for a post-launch project I'm working on.

Kief, I agree with you on their "tube" technique. It is very creative. Good to hear it results in a strong structure.

I also hope he continues down the Saturn stack...we'll see.

Cheers to All from Texas
