Part 69a and 69b form the combustion chamber for the Ascent Module Engine. 69a is a simple tube with 69b as a reinforcement tab. Part 70 forms a cap on the end. The red arrow of part 70 should align with the seam of part 69.

Parts 71 and 72 are the engine mounting fixture which forms the hard points to attach the engine to the underside of the ascent module. 71 is a rather complicated shape and not all the fold lines are identified, but the folding is intuitive so it comes together quite easily.

Part 73 is the valve assembly. Basically a box with protruding tubes.

Parts 71, 72, and 73 are then mounted onto part 69 on the marked attachment points.

The combustion chamber subassembly is mounted onto the underside of the ascent module. It is a very tight fit between the crossbraces. After mounted, the engine bell slides into the combustion chamber. However, the engine bell is not glued into place at this point. That will come later in the build after the skins are installed.

Yikes! It's pictures like these that really scare me when I consider building some of the lovely creations I've found on the web.

The great thing about this model, I think, is that it displays enormous amounts of detail in the printing whilst still being relatively simple to construct

Don't get me wrong, I do not think this is a simple model, but if compared to actually trying to construct the entire detail displayed, this model allows the creation of a very visually rich Lunar Module without the need to build each and every part. This allows the less skilled modeller to produce a wonderful display piece. Fab!

Paperchad...the pdf files are not mine to distribute. However, here is a link to the website where UHU02 provides the key to accessing the files to those who are willing to hunt for it: The Uhu02 appreciation thread | Zealot

I am so grateful that he is willing to make it available from his website free of charge to those who wish to build it.

Great work, many compliments, you are doing really a wonderful work on this model. I'm trying do build the same thing and I'm a little behind you (now dealing with umbilical connection tubes... parts 55a-b and 56) Your experiences are a great value for me because I can figure out what is expecting me a little after my actual building phase. Well, this is what building threads are made for, isn't it? If I will find me in troubles I'll look at your work to have some inspiration... Again... great work!

Parts 74 and 75 are mounting brackets for part 76 Water Tank. They are folded in half for printing on both sides. They are then butt glued onto part 15a with the white mounting points facing inward. Part 76 Water Tank is a simple sphere and glued into place between the mounting brackets.

Part 77 Tank Support is formed into shape. I used a black marker on the back sides where it is exposed. Parts 78 and 79 are tank platforms. The taller platform (78) goes on the right, and the shorter platform (79) goes on the left. This tank support structure is then glued into place.

Part 80 RCS Oxidizer Tank A and part 81 RCS Fuel Tank A are different sizes. Part 80 is the longer one and is mounted on the left. Part 81 is the shorter one and mounted on the right. Please note that Part 81 is too long and does not fit into the tank support structure. I ended up cutting off a little bit of the bottom of the tank to get it to fit.

Part 82 RCS Helium Tank A is formed into a simple sphere and glued into place.

Parts 83 through 91 are virtually identical to parts 74 through 82 except that they are mounted on the opposite side of the mid-section.

Just as part 81 was too long to fit onto the tank support structure, part 90 is too long as well. I trimmed the bottom of the tank (part 90) the same way I trimmed the tank on the opposite side (part 81). Other than that, no other challenges with this segment of the build.

The two girders on each side of part 92 are double sided using the fold lines shown. Part 93 is also double sided using the fold line, using the alignment symbol to line them up. I cut out the red attachment points of parts 92 and 93 so they would slide together easily.

Part 94 is folded in half for printing on both sides. Note that once folded, one long edge is straight across, while the other long edge has a couple shallow notches cut out. It also has little tabs on the short edge that create little wings at the tips. I also cut out the red attachment points so it could be more easily glued to part 92 as a cross member.

Note that the printing of parts 93 and 94 need to line up correctly with the cabling on the back side of the LM. I double checked to make sure I had them flipped the right direction before gluing to part 92 to create the frame. Also, once glued to the frame, the left and right wings of part 93 are angled slightly upward.

Parts 95b and 95c are glued to part 95a to show printing on both sides of the brace for the Helium Tanks. The assembled part 95 is then glued onto the edge of parts 92 and 94 forming a T.

I had a bit of trouble figuring out part 96. I could not determine whether it was intended to be folded in half to show printing on both sides, or whether it was intended to have a 90 degree edge throughout its length. I ended up gluing it up as two sided printing.

Parts 96, 97, and 98 were then added as cross brackets on the frame.

After drying, the frame was glued to the back side of the LM using the printing on the back of the LM (part 2)as a guide. It was a little tricky to attach such a large frame to the LM without making a mess with the glue. Also, note that the very bottom part of the vertical girders of part 92 are angled outward matching the printing on the back of the LM.

After attaching the frame to the back of the LM, the end of the VHF Antenna brace of part 2 is angled over and attached to the rest of the antenna brace on part 92.
