Hello Mike,

with the Main Control Instrument Panel you have chosen a spectacular start in this very challenging project, and then everything on top of that with lighting,
my compliment, that's great cinema.
The detailing is just amazing so far, like at Big Billy, especially the 100,000 wire parts for the switch guards fascinate me. What diameter have the wires and how did you bend it? Please show us your paper drill for the lots of rivets and openings, is this a set?

Wow, nice work, Mike! Those finger guards are very neat and I like the little screw heads and riveting a lot. Great job! Makes me curious on what will follow.

Hello Miles, not quite there yet. but here is a photo of the lighting set up, the actual hookup and placement is on hold until I get further along to map out the space allocation. This is prewired with connectors and has 4 levels of lighting

OK, the wire was 28 gauge steel galvanized (Home Depot OOK Brand)
Photo shows jewlers ring bending pliers, good set of cutters, and your favorite set of tweezers. Also you will need a set of magnifiers about 20 power or greater. Now dont kid yourself about these magnifiers, I dont think I could have done the work without them. But I am old as dirt. So....maybe young eyes can get it done.

Japanese Paper Drill, they make cheap knbockoffs of this item, but I would not buy them, This one is marked screw punch made in Japan on the barrell and is precise. But be careful if it rolls and hits the floor on those 1mm punches you will be buying another punch bit right away..

Drill with set of bits shipped was about $68.00 US. I bought mine from a bookbinders web site.

Wire, cutters, ring pliers ( Michaels Arts and Craft), tweezers.

The Bend

The Cut

The Part, repeat hundred or so times.

I preglued the holes with UHU clear on the punched locations for the wire.

I dipped the wire into the UHU glue with tweezers on the ends.

And then ever so carefully place the part in its location, repeat a hundred or so times. But its really not that hard, just kind of boring after a while, as in all builds dont dwell on the perfection just keep going forward, the glue is flexible and after the parts had set for twenty or so minutes I was able to go back and straighten them up into a perfectly vertical postion if they shifted slightly, just make sure you keep them in the holes you set up. I also just threw the ones that didnt make the size off to the side, as it is easier to bend and cut a new one than to try and adjust one to fit. After a while you will get to the point where you can tell just where to bend and cut for a good fit. A row of 10 was about 30 minutes work. I spread this work out over several sessions.
