The Falcon 9R also had small waffle fins that it used as steering vanes.
Back on the topic of the CST-100, it reminds me somewhat of the Apollo-A concept from the 60's. |

Honour the half-failed first mission of CST-100 Starliner
**** Re-opened old thread****
Although yesterdays mission, the first orbital testflight, was half a failure I still believed it was time to do a little honour to it! The one and only papermodel I know of the Starliner is the design by Ton Noteboom. I never downloaded it and unfortunatly his site is closed... But some generous members here helped me out... Still in 'original' colors as it should have looked in the first designs. Underway it appeared the white is replaced by a light grey color for better isolation... How a picture shows some gluestains much stronger then in realitity... A simple model with no interior details. But it shows the 'character' of the real spaceship. The inside of the engenie-bells should be darks-grey or even black. Is not provided in the kit but perhaps I add it myself later. Only visible when looking at the bottom, though... Now waiting for the Atlas-V-rocket of this mission by Alfonso/AMX. I bet it will have the new coloring and the black (stabilisation-?)perforated ring.

I don't know if Ton wants his files shared like that. Maybe he does, but I don't think we should assume he does without hearing from him.

For now I agree... Ton is completely vanished, but maybe we hear something now.

I dropped Ton an email (if the address I have for him is still good...) and if he wants to chime in, I'm sure he will.

I completely agree and I have a great respect for the author's willingness or not to share their work. |

An update: After 24 hours, my email to Ton bounced back. So I'm not sure how to get in touch with him....
