getting ready for upcoming Orion Test flight:

The Challenger Center (Town of Ramapo Challenger Center - Come join us for a simulated flight into space, and journey to the Moon, Mars, or a Comet! We offer the next best thing to an actual space flight with a simulated Mission Control room and Spacecraft. Become a member) is have a special viewing event on Wednesday, December 4th to celebrate the (hopefully) flight of the new manned spacecraft. There will be a planetarium show, showings from nasa TV of the launch in the theater, lectures and activities including the Orion Punch out paper model. For my part, I built the Nasa tab-n-slot model, and then redid the model as a true paper model in 1:100 scale. I also made up the delta IV heavy lifter in 1:100 and a school bus to give reference for the size of these objects.

Nasa's tab-n-slot model is a bit of work to complete nicely. It fits well enough, but its going to overwhelm its intended audience. You need a bit of skill and patience to built this tab and slot, and it also is missing slots for the solar panel. the only tape/glue I needed was for the solar panels, everything else holds together well enough for display (not for handling)

Which model of the Delta IV Heavy is that? I just finished the Direct 2.0 and am kinda in a build limbo at the moment. I did the same thing with the tab-n-slot Orion, but with the previous iteration. I have the latest model somewhere on my C: Drive.

Nice job on the Delta IVH, Yogi. That school bus really gives it the sense of scale people always desperately need. I also have done that with my models. I really look forward to the Orion mission. It looks to be a very spectacular one.

That's the one. I just doubled its size from 1:200 to 1:100

I'm currently working on Mark Cable's Delta IV heavy for just this purpose also. Still need to find a launch-configured Orion to go on it.

One I did a while back of EFT-1, modified from Mark Cable's Delta IV heavy.

Nice Dyna-soar, if I read that right, you used the currel friede rocket nose and the little joe abort rocket system from JLeslies web site. How did you do the transition though from the nose to the abort rocket? it looks like a simple cone?
