India's new launcher....

If any of our talented designers are casting about for their next project, India's new launcher sure looks cool....

Well, if you're on the case, Alfonso, I know it'll be a first-class model and worth the wait.

I think the launcher looks like it's filmed on an old 4:3 aspect ratio camera and stretched to fit on a modern 16:9 screen. It's a little fat and stubby looking. But a fascinating rocket it is. Launching on just the two SRB's and igniting the main engine just seconds before booster jettison. Interesting technique.

Didn't the Titan III also lift off on just the SRB's, and then light the main engines just before SRB jettison?

That's great news, Alfonso!

Certainly worth the wait. It's a beautiful and powerful Indian launcher.

@ PK, I though exactly the same thing. I messed around with my video settings thinking they'd gotten adjusted somehow until I saw some of the graphics/text on the screen and saw it was normal.
Short and wide, but apparently it works.

It'll go onto the build queue that's for sure.

As far as I know, it didn't. All engines lit at T-0.

You can see the main engines are firing here.

They all lit, but I think the main ran at a reduced thrust after(?) liftoff, and then full thrust after SRB jettison, but that's just what I thought I heard from the launch video.

Some Titan III's launched with only the SRB's burning, and ignited the core engines on the core booster only at altitude.

Hence why the SRB's were often called "Stage Zero"...
