COMPLETE 1/48 Saturn V Model
Hi there, real space model freaks,
A complete model of the Saturn V launcher and the Apollo C/SM in glorious 1:48 scale has been compiled as a kit and made available, just a week ago (23rd of January) at Jon Leslie's site, with the contribution of many talented designers, Ton Noteboom and Greelt A. Peterusma (both from the Netherlands), to name but a few, compiled, with excellent clear assembly instructions, by Jean-Paul P: The Lower Hudson Valley Paper Model E-Gift Shop - Photo Gallery - Apollo Spacecraft - at the very bottom of the page. (Photo from Jon Leslie's site) I had it downloaded yesterday, for a distant future dream project, involving the new EduCraft Diversions 1:32 scale LM. YES! That means upscaling the entire super-detailed Saturn V model to 1:32! Will that be about nine feet tall??? (or scanning and downscaling the EduCraft LM, which is not so appealing in comparison). For the 1:48 scale Apollo 13 Aquarius LM model from talented designer UHU02, the fitting of the LM into the LM adapter of the complete Saturn V kit should be a lot easier, although I just got word from Scott (milw) that it might be just a tad bigger than 1:48: WIP Edu-Craft Apollo LM1:32 and Uhu's LM 1:48 Good luck with your Saturn V 1:48 builds! I wish I had the room...and the time...for one of these! This is awesome. You don't really get the feel for how massive this rocket was until you stand under the five main engines. I took this photo back in 1982 when I visited Cape Canaveral. I have a whole set of photos...trying to find the negatives so I can scan them, for better quality images. Scanning the prints isn't quite as good. Your model is as impressive as the real thing.

1:32 is taller than 10ft! Just the rocket, when you add the tower, about 2-3ft more is needed.
Hard to find a place for a 10ft rocket. Mine is laying down in the living room. Cut a huge sytrofoam shipping container into a U shape and use it to protect it. Mike |

I would consider reducing it to 1/96. That would be cool.

Apollo-Saturn 1/96 Scale Model
Hi markcable,
You wouldn't have to down-scale it. There IS already a complete and updated 1/96 scale version (ver.2.2) of the Apollo-Saturn V over at Jon Leslie's site: The Lower Hudson Valley Paper Model E-Gift Shop - Photo Gallery - Apollo Spacecraft Have fun and all the best, Bengt in Stockholm |

airdave,
Thanks for that fine photo! The Stage 1 end really is massive, with the five F-1 rocket thrusters. To think that NASA constructed thirteen of them, and sent them up into orbit during the 60s, with only burnt capsules to return for a watery splash-down. Bengt |

Great to hear! I was comparing the jleslie version with the one in the downloads and noticed some changes in the texture. I'm looking forward to seeing the improved version you are working on.
