Interesting list! Also reminds me that I had wanted to find a model of the SR-71, and that I'm overdue for a return visit to Dayton, Ohio. :-)

Which three did you miss WG ?
I didn't think they needed both the YF12 and the Blackbird, and no F4.

I missed the Su-27, the X-2, and the YF-12. I figured the B-58 and the EE Lightning or something similar would make it. I right away knew the F-111, SR-71, and the Migs would make it. Did the the F-14 go mach 2 as well?

Got a kinda hijackey Blackbird story, but hopefully it will inform or at least entertain: years back, when my daughters were 8 and 16, we did a trip to the INTREPID Museum in Manhattan; now, the planes displayed on deck have only the most casual of barriers, and I was able to sidle up to their A-12 and stretch up & touch the skin that went that fast, that high. Kinda an act of worship to me. I was gettin' all nerdy with my daughters, going on & on about where the titanium came from & rookie drivers panicking when the skin started creeping away from the windscreens at cruise, &c. &c., and my younger nudged me - I'd attracted kinda a crowd, and a couple of docents were in there too, obviously taking notes.

Last Fall, my younger daughter emailed me for details about a couple of the Sled stories; "I'm making my Pilgrimage there on Saturday with a couple friends, and I want to get my facts straight."
"WHAT? Liv, you've made it a tradition?" (She's 24 now & 6' 1", and can reach the wing herself without me holding her up like I did then!)
"Oh, yah, Dad, we both do it: Hannah went last month."

Well, how 'bout that.

That is an awesome tradition you have with your daughters. One I hope to similarly pass down with my kids. My son already has the bug. Just have to work on my daughter.
