Like Les said, "You're apparently a quick builder'.

Now you got me confused. A small model every three to four weeks is supposed to be quick?
Anyway, I'm deciding between the HTV (continuing a Japanese streak) and ESA's COROT. Or maybe Mars Express. Dunno. |

Depends on model complexity, builders build speed and skill level and other such stuff. Some of us just build slow and some build fast. It's all good, whatever suits you.
I'd like to see the Mars Express.

Haha, that one's certainly true!
Mars Express it is, then. It will need...modifications, though. sci.esa.int/science-e/www/object/doc.cfm?fobjectid=35037 |

Real life took its time again, but the model is finally started. I adjusted some of the colouring to be a little less jarring and used textures from the OSIRIS-REx model (by Retired_for_now) for the solar panels.
My printer, unfortunately, decided to put it out at half the page- probably because I printed straight from GIMP. Oh well, doesn't matter. The new scale is about 1:60 if the conversion chart is anything to go by. I'll keep you posted! |

Alright, there's finally something to share! The model is trickier to make than I expected. Some parts are a bit ill-fitting, if you will, and the curves not really round =D Also, cutting the radiator rectangles out of kitchen foil turned out to be fiddly at this scale.
Solar panels are next! |

It's going to be ready soon. Small update: I installed most instruments, propulsion parts, the lander and finished building the antenna.
Its reflector support was scratchbuilt, so it looks a bit off and protrudes too far from the body. But I'm too lazy to fix it =P |

Wooo, it's finished!
Though it didn't come out looking as good as one would hope. The rear side definitely isn't photogenic enough... I should have chosen a larger scale. *walks away from the computer muttering about hindsight being 20/20* What do you think? |
