"Why don’t you fix your little problem and light this candle?”
Gang,
Some pix of my latest modeling opus: a 1/48 version of the Mercury-Redstone launch vehicle that carried Alan Shepard into suborbital space on May 5, 1961. The booster and spacecraft are the Card In Space model by Michael Urban. A fellow modeler graciously sent me plastic and resin parts for the red launch escape tower, which is better detailed than I could have scratchbuilt. (Note: I've since realigned the wayward antenna on the striped area -- in case anyone noticed! ) Les (The Voice of Authority -- VoiceofAuthority.net - The Voice Stylings of Les Dorr, Jr.) |

I second that, umtutsut,
Absolutely beautiful, stunning. What a fine launch escape tower. I started building Michael Urban's extraordinary Mercury-Redstone model years ago, I am about half-finished. The fins, for example, are so very nicely detailed on this model, and the fit is superb. I remember cutting out the launch escape tower in paper was very delicate, requiring a fresh scalpel blade, and back-side printing with the same red color. I think I will finish this model one of these days. You have really inspired me. Thanks for sharing! Bengt in Stockholm |
