TDRS Satellites
I've noticed that a key component in support of the NASA's man space program has no papercraft models out there: Tracking and Data Relay Satellite
AXM has Shuttle payload versions, but there don't appear to be any full deployment papercraft models out there. Anyone else seen any that I've missed? |

I think you're right. I've never seen a TDRS of any type.Definitely needed!
Also sorely needed: LADEE and MAVEN. I'm really surprised no one has tackled these. Les (The Voice of Authority -- VoiceofAuthority.net - The Voice Stylings of Les Dorr, Jr.) |

Okay...... guess who's working on a detailed model of LADEE.....????
;-) However....I'm struggling to get drawings of its dimensions. I am already drawing details that I can incorporate, later on, but first I need better info to make a decent model. I can get close, but I can do better. And even IF I get the info I need, I have to double-check. I often find PDF files and other sources with info that is just WAY off...!! Totally wrong numbers. How is this possible?? These people are working for NASA and ESA and they can't do some simple math...??!! For example, a satellite with a diameter of 80 cm they say is 100 cm in diameter and then it says 37 inches, in brackets...... Come on. A child can see this is wrong. A typing error is allowed, but these errors continued all over the same file. Nope....the one who wrote that article should NOT work for any space agency. Since that day I have to double-check everything I find. _______ Erik |

Erik,
Lots of pix but no schematics that I could find. Here's what the press kit had for dimensions: Spacecraft Structure Main structure: 7.7 feet (2.37 meters) high, 4.74 feet (1.85 meters) wide, 4.74 feet (1.85 meters) deep That help at all? Sorry Les, but that's no good at all.
Looking at the numbers I guess you downloaded the press kit of August 2013. It is FULL of errors !!!! Whoever wrote that info is hopefully chopping rocks in Siberia or something. People who make that many mistakes should not work for any space agency ! One foot is 30.48 centimeters. So 4.74 foot x 30.48 = 144.4752 centimeters, not 185 centimeters. And which number is the correct one? The one in feet or the one in centimeters? And 7.7 feet is 234.696 centimeters, not 137 cm. Close, this one, but no sigar. Hans Lipperhey invented the telescope in 1608, not 1609. I know, I live in Middelburg....! ;-) My advice is to just delete that file. It is laced with errors. Useless info. Nothing in there can be trusted. I already sent a mail to one of the people involved in that mission. Hopefully I get an answer, soon. _____ Erik. |

Maybe a "P.S." is in place here: when I sent the mail I did not mention the errors in the file, ofcourse !
I only asked if they could send me the correct sizes of the spacecraft. ______ Erik |
