Micromodels 4 Little Spaceships
Originally when I started this project I was planning on posting something more in-depth and somewhere I actually have some progress shots, but that was SO long ago! I think I actually started this build five years ago, but better late than never. . .
The Mercury and Gemini were really straight-forward and simple but I did add a couple of formers. Yes, tiny little 1/4" formers.

The CSM wasn't too bad, but the umbilical cover just didn't look right so I made a new one. Since I wasn't planning on gluing the CSM to the LM, I remade the docking ring and put a basic probe on it.
The most recent work has been the ascent stage of the LM. This is where the headaches started. The fitting has been horrible, even on the simplest of parts. Seriously, I don't thinking any kind of beta build was ever done, just the "conceptual" build. Not that it's a really big deal, but on the LM the pieces are noticeably different than what illustrated on the simple instruction diagram. Ascent's almost done with basically just needing the thrusters attached.

Current shot with everything so far together. Once I do the descent stage I'm going to have to a little more scratchbuilding, there are no parts for displaying the landing legs extended.
Has anyone else tried this? I'd love to see how somebody else's LM turned out.

Afraid I don't have anything for you except to say that the Ascent model looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing how the Descent module and the whole system turns out. You're doing excellent work. Keep it up!

I think they're close to 1/128th size but I'm not certain. The CSM is about 1 3/8" diameter.

I really do like this set, but my hands shake a lot more than they used to and I'd have to admit I have cussed a few times!

These are the Micromodels set from Matt Sparks, right? At MicromodelsUSA.com. Sort of a take off on the old "6 little ships" models. Your builds look great!
