You have a great talent for applying fine details to your models. Beautiful job on the N1 build.

Congrats PK!!!
From the complete stack to the smallest details very impressiv. I'm also a lover of this magic combination - preferably large models, but also tiny details.

Ran into a little trouble making the outer fairing last week. because I am trying to make it partially transparent to show what's inside, I wanted to use thin plastic sheets to cover the opening in the fairing.
The first try was made with plastic sheets that were too thick so the shape of the cylinder was severely distorted. The second, with lighter stuff, was better but gave troubles on small variations in cross section between the tapered bit and the cylindrical bit. Also, I started to wonder about whether to partially open up the fairing completely of just make windows in the hull. Both have their pros and cons. Eventually, I made four tries before frustration took the overhand. With all things going on here I can only handle small amounts of frustrations. So I had to shelve the project for a while. Again. It just needs to look good, I cannot allow myself to mess it up with an ugly looking fairing. I will pick it up in a couple of weeks. |

A lot prettier than any version I've ever done! Congratulations!

Everyone has to walk away once in a while. I do it often myself. (Ask my build of uhu's Endurance -- I have all 12 modules built and had to stop for a while at all of the tunnels.)
If something is frustrating, it isn't fun, and isn't that why we do this after all? I've enjoyed watching this one and I for one will still be here when you get back. (I'm still happy that someone finally modeled an LOK.) |

Exactly that, Joe. It is so utterly frustrating when you make stuff that initially looks well-engineered but then turns out to be crappy and needs you to go back to square one again.
I will finish the N1. Let there be no doubt about that. (-: It just takes a lot of time. And it indeed needs to be fun to do. In the meantime, I started on a new project. a ZIL 4906. MaksArt. |
