First Rocket Design

Many of you know that I like to build and design spacecraft and satellite paper models. I have several more that I have designed and I will release them soon.

While at the NASA website, I was reading articles on sounding rockets and
what they are used for. I like the way these rockets look and I thought that
one of these would become my first rocket design.

I choose the Terrier-Improved Malemute suborbital sounding rocket which was
launched on March 1, 2016 from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility.

There are several more sounding rocket variations and I plan one designing some more.

The biggest problem for me if the conics. If any of you have some good-easy to understand info on making conics for rockets, please let me know.

The first picture is the actual Terrier-Improved Malemute suborbital sounding rocket at launch, the others is the finished design work.
It's not 100% perfect, but I think it looks OK.

What you do think?

I plan on releasing this soon, now working on instructions.

Dear Ghaspacer:
Colorful Wonder if this could be made into a stomprocket or two stage Esties rocket. I like ones that are based on a real rocket.
Thanks,
Miles

The real one stands around 12 meters (36 feet) tall, depends on the payload. The model stands around 20 inches tall.

I plan on releasing it soon, working on instructions and final touches.

PayloadBay.com - Rocketry Tools

Returns a PDF you can work from. Nice job, BTW! Welcome to the party!

Also, where do you plan on releasing?

.
from:

http://papermodelingman.com/faq.html

Well, to make a scale model, if you have all the measurements, (readily available with the rockets) It can be reduced to a simple calculation to get the scale measurements. So I put a excel spreadsheet together to do just that:

http://papermodelingman.com/cone/scaledown02_satv.xls

edit 100619: it has come to my attention that the use of the cone-o-matic with microsoft word is not completely described, so here are some additonal examples:

http://papermodelingman.com/cone/cone_make01.doc

It allows for you to simply adjust scale and units, and still have all the numbers you need.

this one is also great for making cones, conic sections free software:

Downloads

Siatki 1.0.1

It is a very user-friendly program used to unfold 3D objects: cylinders, cones, and spheres. You can save results as BMP or DXF files or print directly from the screen. Most importantly, it is FREE.

I'm trying to set up a payment account on ecardmodels so I can sell some of
my models (I can the income).
There are several models I've designed that I have not released yet.
I'm afraid that releasing around 5 would be too much at one time.

Thank you every one for some input about the conic problems I have, My skills are minimal.

Now I'm working on the Black Brant XII sounding rocket and the nose cone is not as easy.
