Your new level of detail is fantastic! Great to hear that you may rework some of your older kits to this level. I'd love building some of them again - Especially Atlas & Titans.

Here's an in-progress screen shot of the Long March series. Thought I might post this, some of you might find the process interesting.

I'm creating all the parts in one file, and I'm going to pull out the parts when done and place in each kit file. I think I'm about half done, I've got most of the exterior parts finished except for the payload fairings. Still remaining, I have the engine compartments on the -3 and -4 series 3rd stages, the payload interface for each model, and a payload for each rocket. I will likely do the original CZ-3, which means another third stage.

Here are my planned kit contents:
1: CZ-2C/LM-2C-SM
2: CZ-2D (2 different launchers)
3: CZ-2E, CZ-2F (with Shenzhou) and CZ-2F (with Tiangong 2)
4: CZ-3 series
5: CZ-4 series

And if you're into the technical stuff, I'm using Illustrator CC 2016 to create the art.

As always, glad to answer any questions you might have. Fire away!

And here's a progress build!

The Shenzhou, which is the payload on the CZ-2F. Yep, There's a Tiangong in the works too, I'll post when I build it, maybe this weekend. But, here's the Shenzhou:

It's 1/96th scale, I kind of overdesigned it, but I like detail at that scale. Makes the model seem more substantial.

Hello Mark,

Nice Model!
Love the details. Also suitable when upscaling at 1/48...

Congrats Mark. Marvelous job specially with the interior design on the rocket. I saw your screen shot of the rocket parts you've gathered so far for the Long March rockets. Funny to say, but that's the same way I prepare my files on Illustrator. I guess I have to hurry up, you're way ahead of me with these models.
Once again, congratulations on your models. They look beautiful!

For the most part, it should. There are some 3d details that might need a bit of tweaking, for example all the external boxes on the Orbital Module are 3 layers of card stock, On 1/48 they might need to be better defined boxes.

Thanks, Alfonso! Funny we evolved similar ways to work with these, but it makes sense. This series has taken a lot of time, but I'm really happy with the results.

Sometimes I need a break with a big project like the Long March 2, so I take a break with a small project. Here's my 1/96 model of the North Korean Unhu-3. Designed it in one day, Did the test build last night, and here's the results. I'll probably be uploading this to the downloads section after I do an instruction sheet. It's a freebee!

And for comparison, here it is next to the Long March 1 I did a few month back:
