USML-2 Spacelab Configuration

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a very quick build of a model, new to me.

I bought two copies of the model on ebay, as I wanted something unique for the upcoming IPMC theme, Space: Real & Imagined.

The model is die cut, in a brochure style, a couple of instructional photos and steps are included.

Should not take me too long to finish this model, building it as is, and be able to open the unit up, so the interior can be seen.

Rick

Ok, so it took a week to post an update, but I do come with good news, the model is finished.

The main part of the model, the Lab itself, is die cut and pre-scored, the registration of the cuts are quite good, some of the smaller pieces are a little off, but overall, that doesn't detract from the finished model.

Following the order of the tabs, one half of the Lab is formed, I actually did the D tabs first, the ones on the open end, it gave me more shape and structure to slip in the C tabs.

Finishing up the model was fast, parts E through K were slotted into their indicated positions, I did use a dab of white glue to hold the people in place.

The interesting part of the model is how the tabs are used.
When you slide the tab into the slot, and out the other side, you are instructed to turn down the tab, locking the piece to itself, you can see how that is done in the last two pictures.

It was a fun little model, the ends when shaping the Lab, caused some frustration, I had to use a pair of tweezers to help pull the tabs through, and to reshape some of the over head bulk heads, but nothing too worrisome.

Looks pretty good. Tweezers do help with some of those tab and slot models.
