AXM 1/96 Delta IV Heavy-EFT 1
Gang,
Another "epic" (i.e., large or complicated) addition to the Rocket Garden: Alfonso's 1/96 Delta IV Heavy in the Orion first flight (EFT-1) configuration. With its base, the model is about 32 inches tall. Considering its size, this was an easy build. Most parts fit perfectly. The engine sections require a lot of bending and rolling, but they turned out well. I substituted plastic rod for the 2-D fuel pipes and struts between the boosters. I also replaced the parts for the tops of the two side boosters with plasctic model rocket nose cones of an appropriate size. The Delta IV Heavy is currently the most powerful U.S. launch vehicle. It boosted the Orion test spacecraft to a maximum altitude of 5,790 kilometers on December 5, 2014. I highly recommend Alfonso's launch vehicles! Great job, Les! Your plumbing work across the 3 rocket bodies looks excellent. The metallic engine nozzles really work. Congratulations, Sir.
