1/144 Saturn V LUT
This is, without a doubt, my most ambitious project to date: EduCraft's Saturn V Launch Umbilical Tower in 1/144 scale! I always thought that scale model rockets looked odd standing all by their lonesome, so I looked for plans to build a launch tower or buy one, and I happened upon this while browsing. It's a WIP, but she's coming along nicely. The Saturn V is from Airfix (old issue), but soon I will begin work on 2 new Saturns: the Apollo/Saturn (Apollo 16, to be precise) and a Skylab Saturn V. Then later, a "milkstool" for my Saturn 1B!

Excellent! Keep up the great work. I built this one a few years back and passed it on to a friend. Now I have the one from TVC-15. That one took a little more "McGuivering" , but still enjoyed the build. I also have the milkstool kit but have yet to get around to it.

This is an impressive Saturn V LUT model, do you want to build the crawler too?
Source: shop.strato.de I stay tuned.

Is this a "kit" or a download?? Would it be possible to "downscale" this a bit to about 1/152 scale??
Reason I ask is that I've got a TON of the Dr. Zooch Saturn IB's that would look TERRIFIC on a milkstool on this Saturn V pad, and I've also built a flying Saturn V in the same scale as a scratchbuild... (which comes out to about 1/152 scale when based on standard flying model rocket tube sizes). If it can be printed out with the scale tweaked from 1/144 to 1/152 (which isn't much, only a 5.3% downscale from 1/144) it would work perfectly... Later! OL J R

This Apollo Era Crawler Transporter is a Heavy Paper Model Kit in 1:144 by Edu-Craft Diversions.
BTW, I've let downscale my MLP and crawler kits (1:144) in a copy shop to 1:160 for my Launch Pad project, that was not a problem.

So do you just change the scale when you print it out or what?? I've tinkered with that a little but never done a whole kit that way... (I did downsize the F-1 engine paper model to make the outboard nozzles for the F-1 in 1/152 scale for the BT-80 Saturn V build...) IIRC (I did that a couple years ago) I just adjusted my print size to a percentage derived from the original kit scale divided by the desired scale (or vice versa, to get a decimal number) which is then typed into the scaling part of the printer choices to set the percentage of reduction of the print to get the proper sized parts... is that the way you do it or am I missing something?? Later and thanks! OL J R

The reduction from 1:144 to e.g. 1:160 is set at the copier and then all pages of the kit are copied.
It is more difficult to adjust the true color, so that the print corresponds wit the kit template, but this is also not rocket science for professional copy guys.

Looks really good! I'm hoping to build the 1:72 version eventually.
