I started to attach a colored version of the wings to the first stage. I tried to do some reflex effect, but, AARGGHH!, I did it wrong. In two ways: first, the reflexes of the two sections are misaligned, and second the wings are vertical as the natural light, so the reflexes would be on the leading edge and not on the extrados.

So I corrected the reflexes on the rudder

Here the comparison between the version with the corrected reflexes (on the right ) and the previous one ( on the Left ).

To be continued

mhvink , It’s funny, but if you had uploaded your complete model, maybe I would not have started this project, but I would be limited to build your.

And now back to the build.
Sorry Nando, my mistake. DO NOT EVER stop designing! I really want a copy of your stack. It looks more "thought out" than mine.

Keep fighting the good fight.

Mike

Sorry if anything I said was giving the impression that this build and/or design had anything to do with me. I just thoroughly enjoy seeing this model come to life.
Nando, you really are doing a fabulous job. That shine on the wing tops looks great.
Now I silently will stand aside and watch in awe.

Mike, don't worry. Slowly but surely I'm keeping working on this model.

Interesting. This model is near contemporary of the Collier's articles. Looking for it, I found it in the Internet archives. It seems a legal copy, maybe for the age of the model, anyway here the link ( https://archive.org/details/MalyModelarz121958 ).

Don't worry PK. No problems with you: it isn't your fault if someone was wrong, and please don't stay silent: your comments and observations are important for me.
About the shine, I was inspired by this picture of the Convair Pogo where you can see the shine on the leading edge.

Best, Nando

jmuhlba329, thanks for the hint.

Small progress.
I have almost completed the first stage and I like the shining effect on the wings.

Now I’m still dealing with the engines and I have to find a solution for an acceptable rendering for this part and that it is easy to achieve.

Any suggestions?

Best, Nando

People following this thread may be interested in this: some years ago I scoured the net for paper models of what I call 'Early Science Fiction'. So no star wars etc. Most of the models are based on old SF films; had fun finding and watching some of those as well. I added a special page with lots of pictures to my website zeistbouwplaten.nl - look for 'Early SF'.
The pictures below show another old East European model (obviously based on the Walt Disney documentary about Von Braun's ideas), the Cosmostrator and Tintin's moon rocket.
More pictures on my Flickr collection: https://www.flickr.com/photos/zeist_bouwplaten/
Go to the Album on SF. (just in case you haven't visited my virtual museum before: there are over three thousand pictures of models by builders all over the world).

Nando, perhaps is it useful to take a look at how Ralph Currell did this with the Friede Moonship from the Fritz Lang film "Frau im Mond". He also designed a zillion six-sided conical rocket engines for the rocket, which look a lot like the engines for the Ferry Rocket.
The rocket engines of the Friede all fit like a dream. I built that one some years back. Might take some time and callus to assemble but the result is awesome.
Great progress on the rocket, by the way.
