AXM Ariane-V
I hadn't seen mentioned here before:
Alfonso has started a new series European ESA-rockets: Ariane-V. For every day another version! So go over to the AXM-website to collect them. The second one is there now and the first one from yesterday already gone... You never know if it will be back. CORRECTION: the first one is still available through the main sub-page European Agencies.

Hi to all,
Yes, I have started my Ariane V Series in 1:96 scale. Throughout this entire week I will be releasing a new Ariane V model each day for your delight. I don't want to spoil this event by telling you which models I have designed, so check my website each day for this week and complete this small collection. At this time, the instruction manual is still in progress and will be released soon. Very soon I will talk about my Ariane V version at my blog and you will see more photos of the model. This thread, thanks to Willem (Ponytail) will serve for me to answer all questions you might have regarding this beautiful model. Before doing the Ariane V, I realized that because there are too many configurations to pick, one model was not enough. Study the files, study my photos. Most of you might figure it out on how to assemble the model, but wait for the manual. There are some key elements you need to be aware, such as the attachment ring in the booster. Other critical part is the engine section with umbilicals, too. The Ariane V ECA configuration will be released when the real VA-236 mission will finally launch from Kourou. |

Alfonso, you did a really good job on the detailing here. Finally a paper model with a good resemblance to the real thing. I had a lot of modifications to make when I did mine based on Ton Noteboom's much more simplified version. Just one thing: isn't the colour of the fairing and the EAP/SRB's a little off? To me, the fairing and the boosters of the real thing look much more a broken / creamy white instead of the colour you gave them.
Or was there a specific reason you coloured them this way? |

Hi PK,
I was expecting you to join in the conversation. After the fact, yes, it looks too creamy but it was not easy to match the color in the first place. I looked at several photos online and it does show that there's an off white color on the boosters and fairing. All the photos have different tones of this cream color, so this is what I got. My research also included checking your Ariane modification on your blog and several other photos of models out there. I tried matching the color as yours and I thought it was very close. I am going to leave it as it is for now. Note: If the majority will request a change in the color and if this issue will bother me too much that it will affect my sleep, then I might tone down the color of the model a little bit. Hi again,
This is another comment regarding what PK mentioned about the color used for the model. The color shown in the PDF file looks too dark, but that is what the computer makes it for web. When you print the files, there will be a difference in color. Let's build the model and then we can discuss about the color. I think is close. |

Hi to all,
I am working on the color for the fairing and EAPs (boosters). I'll do a test and will ask for your opinion. |
