It sure was. I watched the launch on TV (I was a television repair guy at the time).
I thought for sure that it would be the end of spaceflight as I knew it. I believe that corporate sponsorship has ruined plenty of other thing I've enjoyed (mostly sports). |

A fantastic collection! I really enjoyed the tour. Any chance you plan to build an Atlas E? That is the one that I got to know up front and personal in real life. On a historical note. The Atlas was the the first operational US ICBM in the 1950s and they are still using it as a space booster today. It is kind of like the C-47, just too reliable to retire completely.

I have at home around 100 unassembled rocket models. If something catches me and the model does not exist, I will try to make it. So I do not know what we're going to do.
