1/24 BPC finished

Dear all

Whilst trying to sort out the last bits of stage 2 (see previous post) I took the opportunity to finish off the BPC by adding the locating lugs for the LES

Here is one of the lugs being made

1/24 Apollo/Saturn V (enlarged 1/48 Greelt et al version)-sdc13461.jpg

Note that I think the instructions have the lugs numbered wrong when showing which to attach where to the BPC. However the outside shape of the lugs makes it clear which lug goes where on the BPC. Here they are attached to the BPC

1/24 Apollo/Saturn V (enlarged 1/48 Greelt et al version)-sdc13463.jpg

And here is the finished BPC with astronaut for scale

1/24 Apollo/Saturn V (enlarged 1/48 Greelt et al version)-sdc13464.jpg

This just leaves the bits of stage 2 to finish off and then the final bits of stage 2-3 interstage. So getting close to the finished model now!

Regards

Kevin

Very precise and well researched work. It's in threads like this that I'm learning far more than I ever learned in schools (knowledge stays put unlike some other subjects ).

Hello Algebraist. Superb work.

Gary Pilsworth has furnished a free pdf of a 1/144 AeroSpaceLines Super Guppy (turbine engines). I just downloaded it, and it appears to be a nice model. I found it by googling "Gary Pilsworth Guppy". I plan to build it as a gift to my older brother who was Jack Conroy's first Loadmaster on the Aerospacelines Pregnant Guppy in 1963.

Keep up the great work, and interesting threads.

Happy Thanksgiving to All.

I can't seem to find anything like this on any of the slow motion launch videos like on here

As from this page www.capcomespace.net/dossiers/espace US/apolloindex.htm annexe12 Marquage des lanceurs saturn 5, page2 "Cibles caméra" , this marking was used only on 500F and 501.

(Page now working for me only on cellphone, not on computer. Sorry for english)

Thanks for that SAustin. Is the model you are refering to on papercraft square? When I try and go to it my anti virus blocks it as a dangerous site. Pity because it is a really interesting model.

On a more positive note I was reading about guppies and came across this site All About Guppys

Clicking on the "Pregnant Guppy" icon at the top left and then scrolling down to the last in the list of "pictures" there are three from Fred Austin. And scrolling down to the bottom of that paper is an interesting story from Fred again. Surely your big brother.

I did not know much about the Guppy story or the whole family of aircraft. If anyone is interested, then you will really enjoy the site.

Regards

Kevin
