AXM ISS now on display at the GLSC
For those able to get to the Cleveland OH. area, Alfonso Moreno's 1/100 which I recently completed will be on display at the Great Lakes science Center in downtown Cleveland for the remainder of the month of July. After that it goes to a permanent (?) display at the Glenn research Center where I used to work. The picture doesn't show it but there is a TV monitor behind it showing a continuous movie of the rotating earth as seen from the ISS. you'd have to see it to appreciate it.

Forgot to mention
In the picture of the ISS to the right is a model of the SCAN programmable radio. Alfonso designed a model of that and the model I built is on display at Glenn. Sorry few people will be able to see that one. In my career at Glenn, I had assisted with the testing of the SCAN article, the thrusters for the Deep Space One probe and the Mercury messenger spacecraft. I had found paper models of all three, built them and now they are on display at the vacuum facility where I used to work.

Terry,
Thank you for making it possible. It's quite an honor. |

Without designers like you, Alfonso, none of this would be possible. It would be interesting to know if some child saw your model and was motivated to excel in school and end up becoming the first astronaut on Mars.
Yes VK, it was a great career at NASA. I had a chance to work on some fascinating projects. Three of them have been made into paper models. The deep space-1 probe, the Mercury Messenger and the SCAN communications module now onboard the ISS. |

That is fabulous. A proud feeling to have your model on display like that, hopefully permanent.
Well done.
