Dear Thales

Enjoying following your build. Your work is so accurate (particularly the "warp rings"), looks really good.

I grew up watching Star Trek (the original series) as well as many years of it being repeated (but haven't watched any other series). Do you mind saying where your model "fits in" series/film wise?

Regards

Kevin

The IXS E doesn't really fit in with the star trek lineage itself. This design came about from a 2014 NASA study into what a FTL Alcubierre drive powered ship might look like. The star trek styling comes from the fact that Okuda and another ST visual designer contributed to the IXS Enterprise and their background in ST definitely shows through.

Loved the look of the IXS Enterprise when I first saw it, and you are doing it justice. Fine work!

One thing about the vehicle's original design that always intrigued me, though.... The windows seem too numerous and too big. I'm sure that was to spark public interest, but I can't imagine a real vehicle having that many windows.

Now that you say it, I see it as well. I think it is a nod to the windows on the front of the shuttle. It was the idea to make it feel like more of an airplane from the inside... or something like that.
