I found dimensions of the MLP from Apollomaniacs. They said the length was 160', width was 135' and the height was 25'. At 1/96 scale, that would come out to 20.125"L, 16.875W, and 3.125 H. Very close to my dimensions.
I did a reverse check on your dimensions and they come up to 1/72 scale.
MLP width 135' x 12"=1620" divided by your measurement of 22.5" comes out an even 72 or 1/72 scale. Perhaps someone can check my calculations. Is it possible they sent you the wrong scale? You'd know for sure when you finish it and put a known scale rocket against it and the rocket is too small.
