Apollo 11 mission patch

Hi:D

To celebrate the forthcoming 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11.

I decided to add a twist on the Apollo 11 mission patch by making a 3D version

The Bald Eagle is taken from Canon's website, reduced in scale by 50% and I had to add a lower beak as it does not have one.
The Olive branch is my own design drawn with Adobe Illustrator.
I made the Moonscape from paper-mache using Ton Noteboom's plans for his Lunar Surveyor.
Unfortunately UK newspapers contain a lot of colour photo's so I had to go over the moonscape with a grey car primer to hide the flecks of colour dotted all over.
I love the Apollo11 LM plaque so I decided to include that aswell.
It is printed on to a brushed aluminium inkjet paper.
The base and walls are made from black 5mm foamboard.

It just boggles my mind (or what passes for it) to think that 40 years have passed since Apollo 11 touched down. I must have been one of the few people in North America that didn't see the first moonwalks on tv as we were on vacation at out cabin in nothern BC at the time. We did follow it on radio though.

Great job,
