Zach's Telsat 1
More space history hot off the workbench! Here's my 1/12 card model of Telstar 1, the world's first telecommunications satellite launched in July 1962.
I printed the solar cells on metallic paper for a more realistic look. I also formed the antenna atop the satellite from plastic rod, which I though looked better than the paper parts. Overall, an enjoyable model, IMO! The model is one of dozens of sounding rockets and historic spacecraft at Zach's Papersat Designs (Home). If you're a space modeling enthusiast, I highly recommend you check out the site, if you haven't already! No connection, just a very satisfied builder. Les (The Voices of Authority) |

Great-looking build! I'm old enough to remember when Telstar was launched....
