Thanks everyone for your input so far. I have been busy but still working on this which has turned into a whole other project unto it's self. I had started a thread on the other group, but was rudely treated and told it was waste of time. We will continue here as I have made tremendous progress in uncovering the necessary information to create a new card model of this class in her service. I'm​ going to create a poll with some questions on what people would like to see in a model here and value the modeling community. Thanks and please watch for that survey.☺

First. What scale would you like to see the model be in?

1;250 would be a great scale

To help with your research, the various mods and changes were named as follows:

1939 Hull #385 designated as CV-8
1942 Post-Doolitle combat refit then sunk at Battle of Santa Cruz Islands
1943 Kearsarge renamed Hornet to honor CV-8
1945 Flight deck replacement/modernization post Typhoon damage
1947 DECOM
1951 RECOM for SCB-27A modernization to create CVA class desig
1956 Angled Deck SHPMOD designated SCB-125
1958 SHPMOD begins for conversion to CVS status
1962 FRAM II SHPMOD upgrades

It's strange that no publisher has offered a modern aircraft carrier.

there are several more moderrn than this class though

thinking of whm forrestal and flymodels saratoga but yes no improved essex class of vietnam era with angled flight decks

No there isn't which is why this project is being undertaken. I'm going to cut some cardstock this weekend for the hull frame as a test. This one is being done in1/350 scale but my goal is to be able to print it out in a variety of scales.
