Apollo 11-12 Recovery Carrier USS Hornet CVS-12

Hi all
....Does anyone know if there is a card model kit of the USS Hornet as Apollo 11 recovery ship ?

i think not .have seen a ticonderoga but the hornet model out there is doolittles days

You can use the Doolitles one and modify it with equipament from another cruiser of the same age, the guns and electronic antenas are usually standard.

Actually, no. The HORNET (CV-8) from which the Doolittle Raiders flew was a YORKTOWN-class carrier. The Apollo 11 recovery HORNET was an ESSEX-class carrier. Totally different ships.

there are no modifed essex class carriers in card to best of my kknowledge have been looking for years

there is a very old one from MON publishers. you see them now and again on ebay or gpm.pl has an antique category on their site. I had this kit, very rudimentary but angled deck and could be detailed up as needed

Thank you all for your input on this. It would appear that I am dead in the water (so to speak and pun intended) on obtaining something. I'm not sure if one has been made in plastic other than the old Revell Kit Hornet plus 3 and those are even hard to find both the kit and price wise....wish there was some sort of an option as I want to add the recovery ship and such into my 50th Anniversary Apollo Display I'm creating in honor of the event next year......
