No. Any Syncom satellite would be too big, even for A3 size paper. Well, it could be done but the model would need an internal structure that would end up being a huge project in and of itself.
The model is scale 1:1. It's an old sat, so it's not a modern cubesat, nor a life-size Hubble Space Telescope (Sorry for that. Maybe next year.....)

Here's another clue : a (light) sensor.

The next hint by Monday or Tuesday.

Who cares what it is? It's just great to have Erik back designing his great models again!

That said, Aquarius?

Heartily concur! I often scanned Aries Paper Models for any hint of a new design. Glad he's back.

And I haven't a clue what it is, although those four-rivet/screw square plates look familiar. Just can't place them.

any clue as to use, era, size. that last part is a sort of junction box for distribution of data/power cables. or a better built mouse trap for space rodents.

A GOES ssatellite..........?
Okay, people say I'm crazy. ;-) Give me some credit.....I'm not THAT crazy....am I.....?? ;-)
I would like to design a truly big model ( and I will, I have BIG plans........) but for now, let's
stay humble and keep it manageable.

Yes, it's going to be a fairly big model, life size, but certainly NOT as big as a GOES satellite.

Here's another hint: I have less than 4 months to finish the model.

Ariel 1 or SOLRAD/Dyno in ELINT configuration.
Four months. With government cost over runs, changing requirements and outside interference it should be done in a couple of years.
There sure is a bunch of space junk up there in orbit.
