Mars Cubsat One

Monday the 26th of November the probe Insight is scheduled to land on Mars. I discovered that around the landing, two small cubesats, launched on the same missile of Insight, will relay status information about the lander's descent and touchdown.

( see this animation )

I found here ( Miniature Satellites ) a beautiful paper model and here some picture of the build process of my model with some small improvement.

A small but beautiful design

Best, Nando

Nice looking satellite model. Those MarCO satellites look like some interesting technology. Guess we will find out if they work in a few days.

Glad you like building this model. This cubesat has set many records including a distance record and snapped the first photo of the Earth and moon by a cubesat.

Hope that the Insight lander makes a good landing on Mars on Monday.

God timing on this model!

I, too, watched the successful landing (or, at least, an animation of it, and the scenes of jubilation in the control room).

Yesterday in the evening on a Italian tv channel, during the live broadcast about the landing on Mars, my little model of Marco was used to illustrate the details of the mission. I'm very proud

Best, Nando
