Argh!

Dear all

The last few weeks have seen my office open up again and that is where I moved much of Buzz and Neil. You can see Neil's torso in this photo

Life-Size Buzz and Neil (enlarged 1/4 Ken West "Apollo Astronauts on the Moon")-p1.jpg

On a shelf above the torso (about 3 ft (1 metre) up) is this box

here it is circled

It weighs 8 to 10kg (about 20 lbs). The other day I accidently dragged it off the shelf and it fell, full onto Neils torso, landing corner first into the top of the left shoulder.

When I realised what had happened I straight away thought the torso would be completely crushed. Here is the damage done

Amazingly the torso withstood the brunt of the force . The shoulder was totally pierced and also a bit crumpled and bent. But overall it was strong enough to survive and looked repairable.

After quite a bite of patching, rebinding with glue and restrengthening I have managed to repair the damage and the torso shoulder is as strong as before.

That was a really close call. I still am amazaed how strong the torso was.

Regards

Kevin

The repair looks great. After all the work done so far, I'm very glad it came through with flying colors! Excellent build!

🙀🙀🙀🙀 Glad it was only minor damage, and repairable. I take it that was your "Huston, we have a problem." moment. Mission Control is holding its collective breath !!!

I wasn't expecting to use the same comment twice on the same page...

Congratulations on the repair. How much does the torso weigh at this point?

Your emoji is a perfect match of what my expression must have been at the moment of "impact" Gotham. Hopefully it was not a prequel for a future even more test "Apollo 13" moment. Not sure I could take it!.

Regards
